Wrexham Continue Their Unstoppable Streak of Wins!
Wrexham AFC continued their impressive start to the season with a dominant 3-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town on September 7, 2024, at the Racecourse Ground.
The Red Dragons took the lead in the 20th minute through a stunning strike from Paul Mullin. The striker received the ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful shot that flew into the top corner.
Wrexham doubled their advantage just before half-time when Elliot Lee converted a penalty after he was brought down in the area. The hosts continued to dominate the game in the second half and added a third goal through substitute Jordan Ponticelli in the 75th minute.
The victory extended Wrexham's unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions and moved them up to third in the League Two table. Shrewsbury, meanwhile, remain in 18th place after suffering their third defeat of the season.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson was delighted with his team's performance. "I thought we were excellent from start to finish," he said. "We created a lot of chances and could have scored more goals. I'm very pleased with the way the players are playing at the moment."
Shrewsbury manager Steve Cotterill was disappointed with his team's performance. "We were second best all over the pitch," he said. "We didn't create enough chances and we didn't defend well enough. We need to improve quickly."
Wrexham will be looking to continue their winning streak when they travel to face Northampton Town on Saturday, September 10. Shrewsbury will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat when they host Bradford City on the same day.
