From laundry to limelight: Noel brings humility to Missouri's program

Former Mizzou basketball star Jordan Clarkson donates $1 million to the university

Clarkson's donation will help fund new basketball practice facility

Former Missouri basketball star Jordan Clarkson has donated $1 million to the university. The donation will help fund a new basketball practice facility that will be named after him.

Clarkson, who played for Missouri from 2012 to 2014, is currently a guard for the Utah Jazz. He was a key member of the Tigers' 2013 SEC championship team.

The new practice facility will be located next to Mizzou Arena. It will include two full-size courts, a weight room, and a film room.

The facility is expected to be completed in 2024. It will be a major upgrade for the Tigers' basketball program.

"I'm so grateful for the opportunity to give back to Mizzou," Clarkson said in a statement. "This new practice facility will be a game-changer for our basketball program."

Missouri coach Dennis Gates said Clarkson's donation is a testament to his character.

"Jordan is a great example of what it means to be a Mizzou Tiger," Gates said. "He's a hard worker, he's humble, and he's always willing to help others."

Clarkson's donation is the largest single gift to the Mizzou basketball program since 2014.

"This donation is a major step forward for our basketball program," Mizzou athletic director Desiree Reed-Francois said. "It shows that our alumni are committed to helping us build a championship program."

Clarkson is the latest in a long line of Mizzou basketball stars to give back to the university. Others include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jon Sundvold, and Anthony Peeler.

Clarkson's donation is a sign of the growing momentum behind the Mizzou basketball program. The Tigers are coming off a 24-12 season and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

With Clarkson's donation, the Tigers are poised to take the next step in their rebuilding process.
