UN Report: Israel Commits Serious Human Rights Violations
Special Rapporteur on Palestine Presents Damning Findings
"Israel has violated international human rights and humanitarian law"
The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, has presented a report to the UN General Assembly that concludes that Israel has committed serious human rights violations against the Palestinian people.
According to the report, "Israel has violated international human rights and humanitarian law, including the right to life, the right to self-determination, and the right to freedom of movement, and has engaged in systematic discrimination, including a system of apartheid, against the Palestinian people."
Albanese's report is based on her investigations into human rights violations in the occupied Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. She found that Israeli forces have used excessive force against Palestinian civilians, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians, including women and children.
The report also documents the Israeli government's policy of illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, which has resulted in the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and the confiscation of their land.
Albanese's report is a damning indictment of Israel's human rights record and calls on the international community to take action to hold Israel accountable for its violations.
