Manchester United to Face Reading in FA Cup Quarter-Final
Draw Sets Up Exciting Clash at Old Trafford
Quarter-Final Fixtures Announced
The Football Association (FA) has announced the quarter-final draw for the 2022-2023 FA Cup, with Manchester United set to host Championship side Reading at Old Trafford. The match will be played on Saturday, March 18, or Sunday, March 19.
United booked their place in the last eight with a 3-1 victory over West Ham United in the fifth round, while Reading upset Premier League leaders Arsenal 2-1 to reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 2015.
The two sides have met twice in the FA Cup before, with United winning both encounters. The most recent meeting came in the fourth round in 2007, when United won 3-0 at the Madejski Stadium.
This will be the first time that Reading have ever played at Old Trafford in any competition. The Royals will be hoping to cause an upset and reach the semi-finals for the first time since 1927.
United are the most successful club in FA Cup history, with 20 titles to their name. However, they have not lifted the trophy since 2016 and will be determined to end their drought.
The other quarter-final fixtures are as follows:
- Fulham vs. Leeds United
- Tottenham Hotspur vs. Sheffield United
- Manchester City vs. Burnley
The semi-finals will be played on the weekend of April 15 and 16, with the final taking place at Wembley Stadium on June 3.
